Conference “Urban Policy in Poland and in other EU Member States in the context of Polish National Cohesion Strategy and the Present and Future Cohesion Policy of EU” will be held in Katowice on 5th -6th November 2009. Organizers of the Conference are: The Silesian Union of Municipalities and Districts, The Union of Polish Cities, The Institute for Urban Development, The Katowice School of Economics.

Our intention is present how urban policy is implemented in European countries -  aims, principal roles and instruments.  In Poland the Ministry for Regional Development is working on urban policy respective.

The aim of the Conference is to stimulate the Polish Government to launch preparation for Polish Urban Policy in relation to important EU and Polish Strategic documents (among others the National Spatial Development Concept).
